What Yogo Fura is
Fura is a millet ball. Nono is soured milk. Put them together and you have fura da nono, which people have been drinking in northern Nigeria for a very long time. Yogo Fura is that idea, made with yoghurt and mixed fruit, and sold cold in a bottle.
It is the product people most often have to be told about, because the name gives away nothing if you did not grow up with it. So: it is a drink. It is not sweet the way a milkshake is sweet. The millet gives it body — closer to a smoothie than to a yoghurt drink — and the fruit does the rest.
What is in it
Yoghurt, millet and mixed fruit. That is the whole of what Josey Rich says about it, and it is the whole of what we will say about it here.
How it comes
- 500 ml — ₦2,800
There is a Nutt Yogo Fura as well — the same drink with nuts through it. She makes it; it has no price yet, so it is named on the shelf and nothing more.
Drinking it
Shake it. This is printed on her bottles in pink script and it is not decoration: millet settles, and a bottle poured straight from the fridge without shaking gives you thin at the top and thick at the bottom.
